Six-high rolling mill consists of: besides transmission device, housing (stand), rail seat, rolling adjusting device and roll system (rolls, bearing seat, and rolling mill bearings).

Housing (stand)

It is composed of two "archways" to install the roller bearing pedestal and the roller adjusting device, and it needs to have enough strength and rigidity to bear the rolling force. A closed stand is an integral frame with high strength and rigidity, which is mainly used in blooming mill and strip mill with large rolling force.

Rail seat:

It is used to install the frame and fix it on the foundation, also known as the footboard. It bears the gravity and overturning moment of the working frame and ensures the accuracy of the mounting dimension of the working framework.

Rolling adjustment device:

It is used to adjust the roll gap to make the rolled piece reach the required section size. The upper roll adjusting device is also called a "screw-down device". Now, after the AGC (automatic gauge control) system is adopted in the plate and strip mill, the hydraulic screw-down device has been used in the new cold and hot rolling mills and heavy plate mills, which has the advantages of small plate thickness deviation and high product qualification rate.

Roll system:

It includes roll, bearing housing, rolling mill bearing, support roll bearing, intermediate roll bearing, and work roll bearing. The bearing pedestal is distributed on the backup roll, intermediate roll and work roll. The rolling mill bearing is installed in the bearing pedestal to form a complete set of roll systems, which is used to make the rolled piece produce plastic deformation and achieve the desired product precision and shape.

Common type control means: roll bending and roll shifting

Roll shifting: the shifting of intermediate roll refers to the horizontal movement of intermediate roll along the axis direction. The shifting of the intermediate roll is the preferred measure for uniform wear of work roll. At the same time, it can improve the effect of bending roll, reduce the excessive deflection of work roll and reduce the harmful contact area. The roll shifting of the intermediate roll is divided into positive roll shifting and negative shifting: the so-called positive shifting means that the upper intermediate roll moves to the driving side, and the lower intermediate roll moves to the operating side to increase the bending of the roll and effectively reduce the edge wave; the so-called negative shifting refers to the upper intermediate roll moving to the operating side and the lower intermediate roll moving to the driving side, so as to reduce the bending of the roll and increase the possibility of edge wave generation.

Bending roll: mainly refers to the work roll, which is to adjust the actual crown and deflection of the roll to meet the requirements of certain transverse thickness differences. It is mainly used to improve the plate shape and reduce the transverse thickness difference There are mainly hydraulic bending roll, which uses the hydraulic cylinder to exert additional bending force on the work roll to make the roll produce additional deflection and compensate the original roll crown to ensure the strip shape.
