The installation procedure of angular contact ball bearing:

Angular contact ball bearings are installed in pairs and preload is required. If it is installed well, the working accuracy and bearing life of the main engine can be greatly improved; otherwise, not only the accuracy can not meet the requirements, but also the service life will be affected.

1. Installation in matched configurations

Angular contact ball bearings can be installed in three configurations: back to back (DB), face-to-face (DF), tandem (DT), and Universal configuration.

(1) Back to back (DB) configuration:

When the bearing is installed back-to-back (the wide end faces of the two bearings are opposite), the contact angle line of the bearing diverged along the rotation axis direction, which can increase the rigidity of the radial and axial support angles and the anti-deformation ability.

(2) Face to face (DF) configuration:

When the bearing is installed face to face (the narrow end faces of the two bearings are opposite), the contact angle line of the bearing converges towards the rotation axis direction, and the rigidity of the ground bearing angle is small. Since the inner ring of the bearing extends out of the outer ring, when the outer rings of the two bearings are pressed together, the original clearance of the outer ring is eliminated, which can increase the preload of the bearing.

(3) Tandem (DT) configuration:

When the bearing is installed in series (the wide end faces of the two bearings are in the same direction), the contact angle lines of the bearings are in the same direction and parallel, so that the two bearings can share the working load in the same direction. However, in order to ensure the axial stability of the installation, two pairs of bearings arranged in series must be installed opposite to each other at both ends of the shaft.

4) Universal (DU): 

According to the stiffness and load requirements of the application, the universal matched bearing can be arranged to DB, DF, or DR configurations in different ways, and the required preload can be acquired without any complicated adjustments.

2. Calculation and adjustment of preload

The preload can be obtained by grinding the end face of a ring in the bearing, or by placing two spacer rings with a different thickness between the inner and outer rings of a pair of bearings to clamp the bearings together so that the steel ball and the raceway are in close contact.

The preload is adjusted by the idling test. After the angular contact ball bearing passes the assembly inspection, the idle running test shall be carried out at the working speed for no less than 2 h and the temperature rise shall not exceed 15 ℃.


Installation precautions

1. Installation environment

The bearing should be installed in a clean and dust-free room. The bearing should be carefully selected and matched. The bearing spacer should be ground. On the premise of maintaining the equal height of the inner and outer rings, the parallelism of the spacer should be controlled below lum.

2. Keep clean

The bearing should be cleaned before installation. When cleaning, the inner ring slope should be upward, and the hand induction should be flexible without stagnation. After drying, the specified amount of grease should be put in. If it is oil mist lubrication, a small amount of oil mist oil should be put in.

Before installation, the bearing should be cleaned with gasoline or kerosene, and used after drying, and good lubrication should be ensured. Generally, grease lubrication or oil lubrication can be used for bearing. When using grease lubrication, the grease with no impurity, anti-oxidation, anti-rust and extreme pressure should be selected. The filling amount of grease is 30% - 60% of the volume of bearing and bearing box, which should not be too much.

3. Using tools

Special tools shall be used for bearing installation, and the force shall be uniform, and it is forbidden to knock. It is necessary to apply equal pressure on the circumference of the end face of the ring to press the ring in. It is not allowed to directly knock the bearing end face with tools such as cocks, so as to avoid damaging the bearing. In the case of small interference, the end face of the bearing ring can be pressed with a sleeve at normal temperature, and the sleeve can be knocked by the township head, and the ring can be pressed evenly through the sleeve.

In the case of mass installation, a hydraulic press can be used. When pressing in, make sure that the outer ring end face and the shell shoulder end face, the inner ring end face, and the shaft shoulder end face is pressed tightly, and there is no gap.

4. Inspection before installation

Before installation, carefully check the machining quality of the mating surface of the shaft and the housing, the end face of the shoulder, the groove, and the connecting surface. All mating surfaces must be carefully cleaned and deburred, and molding sand must be removed from the machined surface of castings.

5. Storage environment

Bearings should be stored clean and ventilated, without corrosive gas, relative humidity should not exceed 65%, long-term storage should be regular rust.

6. Clearance adjustment

The clearance should be adjusted during the installation of a single-row tapered roller bearing. The value of clearance should be determined according to different working conditions and the size of the interference fit. If necessary, it should be determined by test. The clearance of double row tapered roller bearing and water pump shaft connecting bearing has been adjusted before delivery, so it is unnecessary to adjust it during installation.

7. Rotation test

After the angular contact ball bearing is installed, it should be used for the rotating shaft or bearing box first. If there is no abnormality, the bearing can be operated at no load and low speed with power. Then the rotation speed and load will be gradually increased according to the operation conditions, and the noise, vibration, and temperature rise shall be detected. In case of any abnormality, the operation shall be stopped and checked. It can be put into use after a normal operation test.
