A bearing is a mechanical component used to support or limit rotary motion on a rotating shaft. It reduces friction and wear and improves the operating efficiency and life of rotating parts. Bearings are often used in conjunction with mating mechanical parts such as shafts, housings, flanges, rollers, etc.
There are many types of fits between bearings and mechanical parts, the most common being:
1. unidirectional fits: bearings and mechanical parts can only move in one direction, such as one-way clutches.
2. Bi-directional fits: the bearing and mechanical part can move in two directions, e.g. a fan with bi-directional bearings. 3.
3. Suspended fit: the bearing is suspended in the mechanical parts, not in direct contact with them, e.g. suspended in the rotor motor bearings. 4.
4. interlocking: bearing and mechanical parts interlock, e.g. light gearbox. 5.
5. Anchor fit: Bearings and mechanical parts are fixed to each other by mounting and wrapping, such as limited angle couplings.
Different fits can provide bearings and mechanical parts with different movement and support capacity between them to meet different mechanical operation requirements.
