A bearing is a mechanical component that facilitates rotational or linear motion, reduces friction, and supports loads within a moving system.

Much like wheels, bearings help components operate smoothly by minimizing contact between surfaces. This not only improves motion efficiency but also extends the machine's service life and enables higher operating speeds. Bearings are widely used in mechanical systems requiring rotation or sliding, ensuring system stability and performance.

 

Types of bearings

 

(1) Deep-groove ball bearings

These are among the most common types of bearings. They feature deep, continuous grooves, enabling them to withstand radial loads and moderate axial loads. Deep-groove ball bearings are suitable for high-speed applications such as power tools, machine tools, and electric motors.

 

(2) Needle roller bearings

These feature slender rollers with relatively small diameters compared to other bearing types. Needle roller bearings are typically used to handle high radial loads while maintaining a compact outer diameter. This makes them ideal for space-constrained applications, such as automotive transmissions, machine tools, and heavy equipment.

 

(3) Tapered roller bearings

These utilize tapered rollers, with the raceways of the inner and outer rings angled to match. They can withstand both radial and heavy axial loads, performing exceptionally well in high-speed and high-temperature environments. Tapered roller bearings are widely used in sectors such as automotive manufacturing, heavy machinery, and construction equipment.

 

(4) Thrust ball bearings

These are primarily designed to absorb axial forces. Featuring spherical rolling elements, they can handle high loads and support higher rotational speeds. Thrust ball bearings are commonly found in applications such as fans, compressors, and automotive transmission systems.

 

(5) Self-aligning bearings

These bearings feature a spherical raceway between the inner and outer rings, allowing them to accommodate angular misalignment and errors in alignment. This provides excellent self-aligning capabilities, making them suitable for rotating machinery such as turntables, oscillating mechanisms, and robotic joints.

 

(6) Thrust roller bearings

Thrust roller bearings are high-load-capacity bearings composed of needle rollers, washers (raceways), and a cage. It can withstand axial loads, offers high rigidity, and requires minimal axial space.
